Yesterday I played Name That Tune: Classic TV Show Edition with my dear friend Luke. We were compiling a bunch of our favorites to create a montage for our radio show we are working on. While playing the game, we couldn’t help but giggle at some of the ridiculous ones (ok, we actually had to go to YouTube because we really wanted to watch the opening!) and get that nostalgic warm & fuzzy feeling. We all know the big ones, the ones that were also hits on the radio. You know, Andrew Gold’s “Thank You For Being A Friend” from Golden Girls, and of course the “Cheers” theme song! Or Laverne & Shirley’s theme song which was so perfectly spoofed in Wayne’s World. But do you remember the theme to Acapulco Heat, Silver Spoons, Charles In Charge or Out Of This World? Classics.

For some reason though, I can’t think of a catchy modern-day theme song since Friends, which ended in 2004. It is, in TV history, one of the most memorable and recognizable theme songs of all-time. But since then what? The Mad Men music plays in my head. I’ll throw that in the instrumental theme category with Dallas, Dynasty, Quantum Leap, Twilight Zone, Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. But, what about sing along types? Like Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air! Who doesn’t know that theme?!
