Yesterday marked exactly one month till I turn the big 3-0. It was like a fire was lit under my tail. I was motivated to get so much stuff done, stocked my fridge with healthy groceries, worked out…I’m ready for this!! But first, I need to slim down some more and I have exactly 4 weeks to get slim before I celebrate!

It also was a nice chance to reflect before bed as to how far I’ve come in (almost) 30 years. If you asked me as a little girl where I would be in my life at 30, it wouldn’t necessarily be where I am right now, but it would be close. My family is healthy and happy, I have amazing friends, a home I love and I’m working in TV. Now, little girl Leah would’ve said by 30 I would have a Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, live in Hollywood and New York and keep a place in Cleveland, be married (possibly twice) and have my star on the Walk of Fame. Well, I do not have any of those things, but I’m ok with that. I’m happy with what I have. It’s not to say I don’t want more, cause Lord knows I have a huge bucket list I’m still trying to fulfill, but at (almost) 30 I am happy with the journey God has taken me on.

Now, back to slimming down. I was at the grocery store yesterday and as I was walking up and down the aisles, choosing healthy but affordable options, I was thinking about my list of goals for the year and how one of those goals was to take up Ballroom dancing. I’ve taken jazz and hip-hop, but never ballroom and I have always wanted to. Plus its been 2 years since I’ve taken a dance class. Then I came to the magazine aisle and saw the latest issue of SELF Magazine which features dancer/actress Julianne Hough on the cover. She wasn’t skinny, she was in DANCER shape. Something I was once upon a time. I had to buy it, it was calling me.

After coming home and cleaning, dancing around my apartment and working out I finally got to sit down and relax. I curled up to my new magazine and got re-inspired. By the way, bravo SELF for the way you reformatted the magazine. As a magazine freak/snob/collector I found it to be fresh, relevant and all around well done. Great tips on how to go out and have cocktails and snacks on my next girls night out without all of the calories and guilt, new workout moves for my trouble areas that I can do anywhere and the article with Miss Hough was also great. I too have issues with my “thass”!

So, let the countdown begin! Here’s to 4 weeks to slim down before I celebrate! Oh, and I need to figure out how I’m going to celebrate…
