Fun-Filled Cleveland Weekend!

on

I kept busy this past weekend between work and play. Kicking off my fun-filled weekend, I was at the Cleveland Metroparks Boo At The Zoo event on Friday. I can’t believe I had never been to this event before since they have been doing it for the past 23 years! But I had a ball covering it for TV20.  My inner child was so excited and I wish I would’ve worn a costume haha. Superheros were the most popular costume by far, but there were other cool costumes like the young girl that dressed as a flamingo or the mom’s that were Bee Keepers and their daughters were the bee’s! I also loved the various elephant statues (my favorite animal) that were placed throughout the zoo and decorated to represent different causes or themes. There were so many people there despite the cold and rainy weather. I highly recommend checking out Boo At the Zoo-only one more weekend left!

Then on Saturday I enjoyed a delicious Clambake at Hodge’s downtown on Euclid. Everything from the perfectly steamed mussels and clams, the New England Clam Chowder and the chicken were so good that I’m still stuffed 2 days later!

Then it was back to business Saturday night reporting from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for the annual United Way of Greater Cleveland Guitar Mania Gala! Guitar Mania has in the past raised more than $2 million for both United Way and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame educational programs. There were a little over 40 10ft tall Fender Guitars that had been placed throughout the city the past few months, that were now at the Rock Hall ready to be won! For more information on the event, head over to unitedwaycleveland.org.  Here are some of the really awesome guitars that were up for grabs this year.

Sunday was the Musica For Life event benefiting my dear friend, musician Sal Pulito of Velvet Shake. The event was at Harpo’s and we had 5 amazing Cleveland bands: Disco Inferno, Abby Normal and the Detroit Lean, pOUT, Velvet Shake and Anger Management getting everyone dancing! Throughout the night we raffled off so many baskets and prizes that were donated. In raffles alone we raised over $4000.00, and ticket sales plus online donations totaled over $10,000.00! A HUGE THANK YOU to all that donated! If you are interested in donating head over to  helphopelive.org.  http://www.helphopelive.org/find-a-patient/profile/index.cfm/patient/D9392879-B3B6-DBF5-879AC0891B237227

So overall I am so blessed to be a part of helping, covering and enjoying the many events this past weekend that raised money for various charities and educational programs and was able to truly soak up the amazingness that is my Cleveland.

Had a great time at the Musica for Life event. All the bands rocked it! You and Raquel did a great job keeping things moving. I’ve done many fundraisers myself and a couple at Harpos, great place.
